Deer Lodge Defeats Dillon In Two Big Basketball Wins
Deer Lodge defeated Dillon in two tight contests in Dillon and remained undefeated. Crone starred in the Beaverhead High game as Deer Lodge won 25 to 9, then Trask led the Deer Lodge attack in a 24 to 13 win over Normalites. Deer Lodge coaches and strong team play dominate, with return games planned in Deer Lodge.

A concert by Professor and Mrs. E S Luce is set for next Saturday at 8 30 pm at the Normal College. Reports praise Mr E Luce’s Moskowski Valse piano solo and Mrs Luce’s vocal selections with high soprano tone and ease. Tickets for the concert are 75 cents, with season tickets for four remaining performances available at two dollars. Estimable Lady Conger Dies After Illness in Montana
Emily Katherine Conger longtime southern Montana resident died at her home in Dillon last Friday night after a brief illness. She was born in Mansfield Ohio in 1845 and lived in several states before moving to Dillon with her husband Judge Everton Conger. She leaves five sons and one daughter including Margaret Poindexter wife of J B Poindexter and Charles Conger deputy clerk to the court. Funeral services were held at the Episcopal church with Rev S D Hooker officiating and burial at Poindexter cemetery.

Alderman Hughes Elected In Third Ward Council Vote
At a special city council meeting George Hughes was chosen alderman for the unexpired Poindexter term. Two ballots were needed with Hughes securing the seat over Spearin and Knapp. The fire committee recommended building a new station on city-owned Lot 5, Block 11, and plans were approved for a 20 by 56 foot frame structure with imitation stone.

The fourth annual Beaverhead County Farmers Institute gathered Friday and Saturday at the county courthouse with strong interest in cattle quarantine and inspection. Dr H C Gardner urged a state import control while papers on cattle feeding vegetables and sugar beet farming were presented by local and Bozeman College experts.

Williameon the one armed sheep herder arrested in Lima on murder charge in Chung Ling case was bound over to district court without bail after a Monday preliminary hearing before Judge Con Bray. County Attorney Melton prosecuted. Robison appeared for the prisoner. Witness Sam Moore testified about meeting Mathewson on January 2 and the ensuing confrontation near the Chinaman's place with suspected liquor involvement and a cash box discovery.
