Beaverhead County Board Holds Regular Session 1917
Beaverhead County Commissioners met in January 1917 sessions. The board elected Theodor Nelson as chairman for two years and approved 1916 tax roll adjustments. New road viewers and bridge bids were set, with bids due March 6 for Big Hole and Beaverhead river bridges. A jury room bid and clerk payroll changes were authorized, and numerous county claims and warrants were approved.

Elliott outlines Montana university plan to unify education
Chancellor Elliott told the Good Government league in Helena that he aims to coordinate curricula, reduce duplication, and shift from advertising to publicity. He seeks equal opportunity for all Montana students, provincialism removal, and a state information bureau to track legislation. He praised cooperative efforts with bankers and farmers.

Beaverhead Alberta Oil stockholders meet at Dillon
At the annual stockholders meeting of the Beaverhead Alberta Oil company near Dillon reporters noted reports on promising fields. The well had reached 700 of 1100 feet with no oil yet but indications were favorable. If found the oil would be contracted by road commissioners and likely sold to the Oregon Short Line Railway.
