Winter feeding of ewe lambs findings from Montana study
The Montana Experiment Station reports that adding about a quarter pound of oats to a daily ration of three pounds of alfalfa hay yields greater gains than hay alone, but at higher cost. Feeding about three pounds of alfalfa per lamb maintains condition with 80 pound lambs for 77 days, while lighter hay led to condition loss despite small gains.
