Silver Fox Farm Emerges as Montana Industry Boom

The Montana Silver Black Fox farm near Missoula has grown from four pairs to 24 pairs in four years after imports from Prince Edward Island. Pelt values for full grown animals range from 1200 to 1500 dollars, with several Butte Anaconda investors backing the venture. The Bitter Root region is deemed highly suited for fox raising, though breeding occurs year round with visitors limited January through July. Foxes require cooler conditions, fed on horse meat, rabbits, and cow milk, with 100 pens added to the ranch recently.
