Christmas Chronicles From Beaver Canyon Frontier
In Beaver Canyon Montana the winter of 1879-80 tested miners and railroad roustabouts. J H McQueeney recalls Christmas shoveling coal, extreme cold, a 50 below thermometer, eggs in abundance and no bread aboard stranded trains. A rough town near the Oregon Short Line shaped frontier life with Vigilantes and gambling.
