Farmer prices vs consumer costs highlighted in congress speech
North Dakota Senator P J McCumber argued farmers bear the unfair share of high food prices. He cited a steer selling for 60 dollars to farmers but 2000 dollars in restaurants, wheat 90 cents to farmers but up to 450 dollars in bread, and potatoes priced far higher at service tables, showing the discrepancy in value between farm prices and consumer costs. The Harlowton News notes the point.
