Acting under orders from Jure Marshal McCormack and Deputy Fire Marshal Frank Birrer, a frame building on Idaho Street owned by E. M. Yeaman and long used by Chinese laundrymen was demolished this week. The city council had condemned the hazardous one room structure as a fire risk. Yeaman sought more time but received no reply. The fire-prone site was cleared and the material sold by Joe Thompson and John Reents for kindling and firewood.

Fire destroys Brenner home on Horse Prairie
A fire at the J. C. Brenner residence on Horse Prairie early Saturday consumed the library and valuables. No insurance was carried and about 2000 volumes were lost along with heirlooms and documents.
