The Father of the House in Helena Legislature
The house has two male leaders, Speaker White and Colonel Rice, serving as vigilant watchdogs of the lower body. White stays near the Grandon hotel except Sundays and has rarely visited the business district since January. Rice, busy as a committee chair and house member, finally spent Sunday with his family last week. They sit together in committee deliberations and often have to rise to steer debates to resolution.
