Gasoline Sale Rules Set by War Administrator
Harold L. Ickes announces restrictions on gasoline sales effective Feb 1 for war use. Stations may not deliver fuel for more than 12 hours per day or 72 hours per week, except for official military and emergency needs. Stations must post hours for A and B ration book holders in front windows.

Cabin at Argenta Destroyed by Fire
A cabin at Argenta occupied by Robert Scotty Graham was wiped out by a Saturday night blaze caused by a defective flu. Flames spread from the attic between the roof and kitchen ceiling after fumes leaked in. Scotty fought the fire alone, fetching water from a well and dumping snow on the flames. All personal belongings were lost. The cabin belonged to Mr. Graeter of Deer Lodge.

Excess Canned Goods Declared Under New Ration Rules
When Ration Book No 2 is issued in the near future a deduction of points will be made for all rationed canned goods in excess of five cans per person possibly by a family OPA has announced. An eight point stamp will be removed from the book for each excess can of rationed food.

Boy Scouts Plan 33rd Anniversary Banquet and Week
The plan for the annual father and son banquet on February 11 marks the thirty third anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. Earl Genzberger is chosen to give the main address with Herbert West in attendance. The event, at the L D S church, is under the Relief society with committee members William Hillstead T W Sargent and Frank Tyre. Dillon Scouts will attend church next Sunday, meeting at the Bagley building at 10 45 in a body under supervision of George Nightingale and A L McArthur. The theme Toughen up buckle down and carry on to Victory emphasizes physical health mental alertness and moral strength amid wartime efforts.

Former Normal Student Killed in North Africa
Wesley Sloulin, formerly of Montana State Normal College, was killed in action in North Africa on January 2. He studied at the college in 1938 39 and worked for M C Donaldson of Standard Oil. A Williston High School graduate, his brother learned of his death as he passed through Dillon yesterday morning. Wesley served as a pilot in the North African campaign.

Beaverhead Chapter DAR received genealogical material from Miss Fay Kirkpatrick including two volumes of Heads of Families First Census of the United States 1790 North Carolina and thirty copies of The American Register edited by Shawver and Kirkpatrick. The items interest Shawver Kirkpatrick Williams Kerr and Lundy families and others. Materials may be consulted at the city library in February before joining the DAR genealogical files. At the DAR meeting Mrs. Hazelbaker discussed Pacific Islands. Mrs. Willey was named DAR representative to the Beaverhead County Museum Association.

City Officers Will Be Named At Polls April 5
City voters will elect mayor two aldermen from each of four wards, a city treasurer, and a police judge at the ward polling places on Monday April 5. Registrations close before election day with eligibility for 21 years old, one year in state, 30 days in city and re registration required for those who did not vote or used an absent ballot in November 1942.
February draftees begin joint induction exams in Butte
Beaverhead county February draftees traveled to Butte for the first examinations under the new induction plan. All draftees received physical and psychological tests and those passing chose their service branch with Army and Navy representatives present to select or accept recruits.

State War Assistance Funds Set for Civilians and Dependents
Officials of the department announced after a Social Security Board conference in Denver that funds are available to civilians' dependents including shipwrecked killed or captured persons and civilians interned by enemy nations or civilian defense workers killed in the line of duty.
