No Comment on Taft Hartley Effect on Big Unions
Washington A House Labor subcommittee reports that the Taft Hartley Act fails to protect local unions and members from loss of voice in bargaining. Investigators cite musicians performance funds under compulsion by the American Federation of Musicians, showing a large local union with little control over affairs and diverted fees contributing to unemployment. The findings suggest potential push for a local union rights bill amid possible big labor pressure in Congress.
