Former Dillon Boy Injured in Butte Collision
Fred Becktold 2, once of Dillon, was seriously injured Monday evening in Butte when his Chevrolet struck a street car driven by Mike Mesevich. He was thrown through the windshield, face and head lacerated, temporal gory severed, and rushed to the emergency hospital in shock and blood loss. Becktold, well known in Dillon, attended school there, played in the Dillon band, served in World War I, and was employed by Mutual Creamery at the time.

Cal Officer Fired Upon in Night Arrest
Officer Bourquin of the city police was fired upon while attempting to arrest two suspects who had stolen a purse from Mrs. Burgess. One shot missed as it burned his face, the second struck his clothing and a back wound. The pair, last seen near railroad yards, escaped into darkness after a brief pursuit. Both men had been staying at a local rooming house and worked in the Big Hole hayfields.

Pioneer Lady Catherine Innes Dies After Long Illness
Mrs. Catherine Orr Innes 87 and a Dillon county resident for 52 years died yesterday morning after a months long illness. Born in Ayr Scotland she came west with her husband and children and lived at Bannack and the Rattlesnake ranch before moving to Dillon. Survived by six children Carlton Martin Mary Innes Gilbert Wheat Evans Innes and John Innes. Funeral services will be held in Dillon tomorrow afternoon.

Grade School Set to Open on September 8
The training school will open Monday September 8 with new staff. A instructors conference is planned Saturday afternoon September 6 to finalize plans for the school year. Pupils six and older by November 1 enter first grade while four and a half year olds may attend kindergarten. The old building was renovated this summer. Montana State Normal College begins fall term Monday September 22.

Stewart Says 66 000 Tags For Passenger Cars Now Ready
The motor vehicle department reports 66 000 passenger car license tags issued, depleting 1924 supply and prompting a 2 000 plate order to finish the year. Up to date 66 650 passenger cars and 8 800 motor trucks licensed versus 65 449 cars and 8 380 trucks in all of 1923. Since Aug 1 half rate licenses have been issued for cars not on state highways earlier this year.

H H Dittman was arrested at this place last Thursday and turned over to Helena authorities. Lois Linder a sixteen year old girl who accompanied him to Dillon was taken into custody on the father's request. Claude Woodside Dies After Gallstone Operation
Claude Woodside died in Spokane after gallstone surgery. The 24 year old Dillon native, youngest son of L Woodside, had lived in the Big Hole basin and later in Butte and Spokane. He is survived by his father and six siblings including Mrs Florence Shaw of Spokane and Mrs Clara Chapman of Missoula. Funeral services will be held in Dillon.
