Bear in yard and basin area draws bear reports
Mrs. Eli Sage frightened a large brown bear from her chicken yard with a .22 rifle and a hunter named Charlie Pinkerton later killed the animal. Reports say several bears have appeared in Bloody Dick country with cattle and sheep losses. A large wounded bear was sighted near lease timber but escaped after shots. Local residents W T Pinkerton and Elmer Sage visited Jackson. Sage has recovered from illness and returned to work.

Charles Sassman had a severe heart attack Saturday afternoon while riding with Ray Ford. They stopped at the Johnson ranch where medical aid was given. He returned to Jackson Sunday feeling better but not fully recovered.

A rake team ran away at the Walter Stewart ranch dragging a raker under the rake teeth for several hundred yards. He was badly injured but recovering and improving after the incident as the horses were caught and he was freed.

Dance draws crowd as Pendergast hosts success
