OPS Proposes Free Merchants From Orders Through August
The Office of Price Stabilization will likely refrain from issuing new orders until after the new production act passes Congress. Any relief orders would aid merchants and manufacturers facing current squeeze. Key shortages noted include sulfur for fertilizers and scarce supplies of copper steel and aluminum for farm implements. Retail food prices showed little change, while beef prices remain well above parity and could threaten broader price control stability.
