In observance of Child Health day two clinics are planned at Bagley school for Dillon and rural children. The nurses and Dillon physicians will run tests and vaccines with a $1 charge per child for the vaccination and inoculation clinic on May 3.
The Dillon Masonic lodge presents a Friday night program at the Masonic hall to observe Public Schools Week. The event features Dillon training school music, a high school declamation, the high school orchestra under L A Gregory, an address by Supt Raul Anderson, and a community sing along with the orchestra. Committee members include Thomas W Jones chair Dr R D Curry W G Squires Harris Opp and Clark DEvelyn.
Beaverhead County Federation of Women's Clubs hosts spring meeting in Dillon with the Wisdom and Junior Women's clubs and Wise River Women's club in attendance. Morning session at 10 o'clock at the Presbyterian church with Mrs. Frank A. Hazel baker presiding. Prof Rush Jordan of Normal College to speak on The Barbarian Returns. Luncheon follows and Shakespeare club hosts the social meeting.
The Dillon Choral Club held its final musicale of the season at Mrs. Sam Wilkinson's home with a governance change. Mrs. Cecile Best and Mrs. Rhea Meads joined the governing board, while Mrs. W. G. Gilbert will direct again next fall and Mrs. T. W. Sargent will be accompanist. Miss Jean Bishop led singing in Mrs. Gilbert’s absence.
R. B. Caswell prominent Beaverhead county mining man and Ermont mine manager was injured when his car left Moose Creek hill and overturned. He was taken to Barrett hospital with a badly injured shoulder and a hip laceration. He was alone and reportedly tried to pass a car before the mishap. A passing motorist brought him to town and a wrecker retrieved the damaged vehicle.
Beaverhead county plans a rural school music festival in Dillon on Friday evening May 5 under Mrs. Elizabeth Stanfield. Pupils from Argenta Blacktail Riverside Grant Bannack and Dell will perform with the Little Symphony orchestra of the Normal College under Ralph McFadden. The Bagley school auditorium will host songs dances and solos in a program announced next week.
The Manse Society presents Vera Cooke Hazel’s vocal pupils in a May 4 recital at 8 15 o clock in the Presbyterian church. From Dillon and Anaconda come seven named singers plus several accompanying figures. Mrs Mary Farrell will accompany, and a silver offering will be taken.
The Dillon Gun Club remains tied with Missoula for the Montana state telegraphic shoot lead as both squads win four matches without a loss. Dillon posted five perfect 25s among 17 flawless scores, led by Dr. E. G. Free and Ted Renfro and teammates Bill Gleed Henry Wombacker and George Roe. Garden City also reported a 75 as turnout neared thirty gunners.
Fourteen Dillon Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts received badges at a courthouse court of honor on Monday night. Tenderfoot to Daniel Boka, second class to John Bowring and Francis Petit, first class to Teddy VanAirsdale. merit badges to George Bowring, J. W. McCracken, and Hubert VanAirsdale. Cub awards include Wolf cubs Rodney Foster Dick McCracken John Osborne Bobby Ryburn Bear cub Robert Jones Gold cub Eugene Bennett Dean Romersa. The program, led by T. Lee McCracken, featured assembly flag ceremony David Curry ceremonies by Albert Erickson and closing remarks. a nomination committee for next month’s offices was appointed.
For the first time, Beaverhead County High School ties two students for valedictorian. Jo Anne Fuller and William Tower both hold a 3.811 grade index and will draw straws to decide who delivers the valedictory and who gives the salutatory at next month’s commencement.
Directors of the Dillon Rotary club were elected at the weekly dinner Monday night. Named to the board were Ralph McFadden E. E. Hazel C. J. Horren Frank Tyre and Albert Erickson who will meet next month to select a president and other officers. The Dillon LDS Singing Mothers chorus recently returned from a church conference in Salt Lake City where the 1 400 voice choir sang three sacred numbers directed by Mrs H M Warner with Mrs T W Sargent as accompanist. Sol Sobolsky of Dillon reported his car stolen from the Montana Auto Supply garage early Sunday. Francis O Leary, alleged driver, claimed in Davenport to take the car, and stamps from the garage were found inside. Sheriff Temple planned extradition from Olympia as authorities weigh charges of breaking and entering and possible federal Dyer Act exposure.
A light rain Sunday night ended a two week dry spell across the county with general rainfall and snow in higher elevations. About five inches of snow reported in some areas. The moisture revived parched ranges and a new monthly high of 75 degrees was set last Friday before cooler air moved in.
Nearly 300 sportsmen from six Montana counties gathered Saturday night for the South Central district No 8 Montana Wildlife federation session. Conservation and propagation of wild game topped the agenda as ranchers and sportsmen discussed the annual picnic site, with Goughs Corner and Ennis tied before a flip of a coin settled the choice for last year’s site.
The Montana School of Mines and Montana State Normal College glee clubs perform Friday at 8 pm in the college auditorium. Directors are Arthur Drynan and Arnold Clair with accompanists Miss Tretheway and Miss McPhail. Mrs. James Cummins of Butte sings as guest soloist. A Normal men's quartet and Mary Hocking accompany.
Estella May Murphy 36 wife of Philip H Murphy of Jackson died Saturday after an operation in a Hamilton hospital. Born September 24 1902 in Jackson she spent her life in the Big Hole basin. She is survived by husband two children Colleen Estelle and Philip Wayne her mother Lena Nelson of Dillon a brother Fred Nelson Jackson a sister Isabel Zebarth Dillon a grandmother Cecile Hirschy of California and four uncles Fred Hirschy Jackson Chris Hirschy San Francisco William Hirschy San Diego and Dave Hirschy.
A haystack burned last Friday at Paul Stahl Sr. dairy on the city outskirts. Dillon volunteers fought the blaze with chemicals and a bucket brigade after failing to connect to a city water main. The fire consumed about 10 tons of hay a board corral fence and pole feed racks but did not spread to nearby buildings.

The Montana State Normal college held its annual Go yesterday at Torrey lodge in Birch Creek canyon. Despite chilly weather, students enjoyed outdoor games and a lunch served by the Women's Athletic Association, continuing a 1906 tradition.
