VFW Champs Trip Eagles In Big Game
Bozeman's V F W national champions of 1951 defeated the Eagle Bar Independents 74 to 60 before a full house at the high school gym. Les Curry scored 24 for Bozeman with McCormick 16 Rocheleau 14 Curran 12. Halftime 41-34, visitors never pressed. In prelims BC HS sophomores edged juniors 29-28 as Clayton Schulz sealed the late free throw. Jack Kenison led scoring with 14 for the juniors.

Unemployment Hits All Time Low In Beaverhead Area
Montana's April labor bulletin shows Beaverhead area unemployment sharply down from April 1950 with 30 job applicants now versus 125 a year earlier. Officials warn of shortages across construction, skilled trades, and farm work as demand rises, with 7,000 non farm and 8,000 farm positions needed at peak season.

Monten 852nd Reserve Squadron to Activate May Day
The Monten 852nd reserve air transport squadron at Great Falls air force base will go into active duty May 1. Commanded by Maj. Raynor H. Roberts of Helena, the unit has trained since June 1949 and includes men from Great Falls Helena Butte Lewistown Cut Bank and surrounding towns.
