Roundup Plans 500 Cows to Aid Farmers
At a Roundup commercial club meeting President Lambert proposed buying 500 dairy cattle and shipping them to Roundup to sell at cost with long terms. Farmers pledge to care for them while payments stay small, secured by a cattle loan and local business men’s credit. The plan aims to boost diversified farming and may repeat if successful.

State to pay blind man eight thousand dollars
Sam Gerovich of Missoula blinded in both eyes by a premature blast while doing road work in Montana will receive a total settlement of 8000 from the state accident board. At 26, his case marks the highest payout under Montana compensation law for employee injuries. He travels to Helena to settle, receiving 2000 to cover bills and travel to Serbia, where he plans to use American cash rather than Serbian dinars for eventual exchange. He aims to take a draft payable in American money to his Serbia home town. The board notes another total blindness case will exceed this settlement. A 19 year old at Boulder who worked for Greenback Mining is also affected. Southeastern Montana’s gopher eradication shows most land south of the Missouri and east of the Musselshell is gopher free, while prairie dogs remain an issue. The gopher’s origin remains uncertain, but the Missouri and Musselshell rivers have formed barriers to spread.

A Miles City owned well in section 6-15-29 near Cat Creek shows over 100 feet of oil in the casing in the third producing sand. Heavier quality oil suggests a normal pool feeding higher grades, while the upper sand yields water. The discovery points to a new district with potential for heavy production as drilling continues under Basin Co. management led by L S Lantz.
