On Monday night April 14 Dr L Edwin Cooke of Billings and Rev J W Shungu of Africa will be guest speakers at Grace Memorial Methodist church with a 6:30 p m supper and a musical program led by Mrs Archie Green. Scott Re-elected Farm Loan Head at Dillon Dinner
Sixty nine farmers and ranchers from two counties attended the Vigilante Farm Loan association annual dinner in Dillon on April 2 1952. Parke T. Scott and Amos A Galahan were re elected to three year board terms and served as president and vice president. C C Upton Land Bank Spokane spoke on milestones in 35 years of service and said both the Land Bank of Spokane and the National Farm Loan associations are in a strong position. Kenneth Eliason acted as toastmaster with entertainment from Artie Mautz and Dillon high school students. Roses were given to ladies and cigars to gentlemen in celebration of the 35th anniversary.

Telephone Worker Injured in Crash Near Melrose
James O. Johnsrud, a lineman on a local telephone project, lost control of his car five miles south of Melrose last Friday night. He sustained injuries and is confined to Barrett hospital. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orin L. Johnsrud, are visiting from Great Falls.

Navy squadron sets blood donation record in San Diego
Navy Utility Squadron 3 at Ream Field San Diego donated 775 pints of blood in eight hours surpassing the station’s 540 pint seven hour record. Lester R. Sage airman son of Elmer R. Sage of Dillon helped drive the effort praised by the San Diego Red Cross director as one of the area’s most successful drives.

Essex Returns From Korea Nine Month Combat Tour
The USS Essex has returned to the United States after a nine month duty period in the Korean combat zone. Francis D. Marler of Lima serves aboard as a ship's service man third class USN. The carrier underwent a 40 million dollar modernization and was recommissioned January 15, 1951 prior to joining Air Group 5 which first flew against North Korea. The air group completed two tours of combat duty.
