Government to regulate migratory bird seasons across states
A March 4 law gives the Agriculture Department power to set closed seasons for migratory and insectivorous birds moving across state lines. It allows three months for public hearings before final adoption, and does not override state laws protecting non migratory birds. Montana may see federal limits on duck and goose hunting, with southern sportsmen potentially favored.
