Devils Lake Public Library opens with club support
The Devils Lake public library will open in two or three weeks. The XIXth Century Club has gathered about 500 volumes donated by club women across the United States. U S Marshal Hurst offers a first floor space in the court house for library use, replacing the council’s First National Bank building plan. A book reception will invite donations of books, money, or shelves. Until funds pay a librarian, club ladies will perform duties. Meteor lights up Dickey county sky over Edgeley
Last Saturday around 3 pm residents of Dickey county heard a loud explosion with varied descriptions from boiler blast to earthquake. By 8 pm Edgeley reported a meteor half the size of a house, intensely hot, emitting fire and breaking into colored fireballs. Mr Lake four miles south of Edgeley saw a jar sized object moving northward and as high as passing clouds. A witness described a silver ball racing through the air. The shock was felt across the county.
