Silk Train Breaks Continent Crossing Records
The Great Northern silk train sped across the continent in forty five hours and twenty minutes to set a new time mark. Four silk cars, three fish cars, and a U S postal car formed the train which left Seattle at 4 45 Friday and arrived St Paul at 4 05 Sunday. Ancient cane for pres Taft presented in Spokane
During Taft’s visit to Spokane he received two canes of wood claimed to be over 250000 years old. The timber was found near Alberta by W S Foster of Spokane and is said to have formed before the glacial period.
