Tokio C. D. Graves returns from Crary and several locals visit Devils Lake on business or for markets. Residents update on moving plans, home projects, grain hauling to Tokio elevator, and community activity as Tomlinson and Arnold families travel.
The Catholic Sodality hosted a basement card gathering at St Joseph Church on Tuesday. A Eagle’s hall dance last Friday drew a small local crowd with Larson’s Orchestra providing music. Earl Noonan celebrated his tenth birthday with friends, games, and a big lunch. Mrs Moeller hosted a linen shower for Emma Nelson ahead of her marriage to Charles Smith, with whist prizes and a three course lunch. A wedding cake ceremony at the McLean home included ring and button prizes for guests Eleanor Norton and Alice Pettitt. Teachers led a Thanksgiving program by city school fifth and sixth graders, with songs and compositions celebrating the holiday.
Miss Anna Hanson visited Mrs. Amos Hlingson near this place and returned to Devils Lake. John Jaqua, now a mail clerk on the fast mail, was home briefly. Spreakie bought a bay horse last week for companionship for Jennie. Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson travel to Minneapolis and Grandon to visit relatives for a week. A surprise birthday party honored the oldest son at Gusburg’s home near Tokio with cards dancing and a fine lunch.
