Ambassador Bryn to Visit Devils Lake for Celebration

Ambassador Bryn will arrive in Devils Lake on May 19 after a stop in Grand Forks and will speak May 17 at Grand Forks. A grand reception is planned in Devils Lake with Sioux escort, Danes Lodge events, and a Commercial Club evening program featuring the Norden chorus.

President E A Wilson of the North Dakota Improvement company plans a grand opening for the Great Northern Hotel on June 1. A banquet and distinguished speakers are anticipated. the Commercial club and Mr Horton are coordinating events with final program details to be announced.

Comrade Wm R Gray of Ohio Visits City Friends

Comrade Wm R Gray of Co G 25th Ohio Army of the Potomac spent a week in the city visiting old friends and handling business after leaving Devils Lake. His wife, a highly respected lady, died soon after in Oklahoma. Gray fought at Second Bull Run and Chancellorville, where he was wounded. 27 bullets pierced his clothing, yet only one wound bled. He described lying on the battlefield at Chancellorville as troops marched to Gettysburg, then being carried to a station, tents procured, and later transferred to St Joseph's hospital, Chestnut Hill Philadelphia. He noted heavy rain during his stay and little dry clothing. Gray remains optimistic and sociable, and departed by train in May for home in Iowa.

Man Arrested for Selling Liquor to Indians Near Dunapith

Deputy McKay reported arrest of Charles Thompson about fourteen miles north of Dunapith near the border in a case charging him with selling liquor to Indians on St Patrick's Day week and while a grand jury was in session. The suspect, held in Towner County Hall, awaits grand jury action.

Livestock Men Form Regional Trade Organization

A group of livestock men organized a new association at the Gardier hotel in Dares with representation from multiple states. The Northwestern Live Stock Boundary negotiation group will include delegates from North and South Dakota, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. Officers named include President Dr. S. H. Ward of Saint Paul and Secretary W. F. Crowe of Devils Lake.
