Fort Totten Indian School and Reservation Life
About eleven hundred Sioux and Chippewa Indians live on the Devils Lake Fort Totten reservation. Since 1904 unallotted lands opened to settlers, whites moved in, creating a mixed community and education reforms. The Fort Totten and Devils Lake schools train children in academics and trades with a busy dorm system and a Grey Nuns run Sister's school, while a strong Indian band and basketball and baseball teams foster culture and sport. Future construction includes a hospital, dairy barn, and superintendent’s cottage.

A Deserter By Edward B. Tappan
A Tennessee recruit named Ben Riggs deserts to the Union after bungling drill, picket duty, and staff tasks. He escapes two arrest attempts, shoots two guards, and returns to Union lines claiming he proved his foolishness to rebel leaders. He reports Stonewall Jackson and Confederate forces moving toward a Lee assault on McClellan.

Alls Fair in Love and War Elopement Tale
A high society marriage in a city ends in a misplaced license mix up and a staged elopement. Two licenses, three autos, and a third party wedding create comic confusion as Cynthia Geddes appears twice. The groom waits at the church while the bride wed another man elsewhere, then returns with blessing.

High Style In Billville Ends With a Car Steeple Joke
The Atlanta Constitution quotes a humorous interchange about courtship and status as a young man is urged by an elder to buy a motorcar. He then must fund a church steeple to keep pace with modern taste, joking that a meeting house without a steeple seems cheap compared to a 2,000 automobile standing before it on a Sunday morning.

Faithful scoff at lawyers and doctors in old tale
The piece satirizes lawyers as rogues and doctors as quacks while a fever brings a chain of calls to heal. Preachers are insulted as well. On a day of fate, three preachers are summoned to pray, as a parable about pride and judgment unfolds.
A Pointer For Him
A brief noir style verse notes a youth asking the time while a maid with a grim past hints the hour points to the door. The dialogue posits suspenseful fates as midnight nears in a parlor scene. Chicago News framing adds a measured, period voice to the macabre humor.

Complications of the Future Registration Officer Quip
A Chicago Tribune joke notes a Registration Officer asking a voter where born, answered vaguely that birth occurred somewhere between New York and San Francisco, and finally says she was born in a dirigible balloon.

Hooray Fellere Timed Muse Echoes in Atlanta Constit
Poetic lines celebrate jubilant helpers urging activity and world turning. The fragment hints at a chant or cartoonish lyric in the Atlanta Constitution style, mentioning the hooray helpers and a call to start things moving amid a lonesome ground. No clear event or people are identifiable.
