Farmers to The Front in Minnewaukan Township Meeting
The American Society of Equity of Minnewaukan township met February 25 1905 at Thompson school house with over thirty farmers present. They voted to raise two thousand dollars from twenty farmers each contributing one hundred dollars to build a grist mill and elevator owned and run by local farmers. A follow up meeting is set March 13 at Locke school house to involve South Minnewaukan and Morris townships and plan stock and operation.

Passed Unto The Perfect La Fayette Butterfield
La Fayette Butterfield died at his home on the Chautauqua grounds near the city on February 24 after a long illness. Funeral services were held at the home and burial followed in the city cemetery. He was born in Naperville Illinois on September 28 1850 and was nearly 53 years old. He served as a bugler in the 3rd Wisconsin Cavalry until September 28 1865.
Twice Married Settler of Devils Lake Dies after Illness
The deceased, twice married to Miss Lillian Stevens and later Emma Gillian Jones at Sparta Wisconsin, moved to Devils Lake in 1901 and became a respected county citizen. Survived by his wife and two children, including a daughter from the first marriage now living in Norwalk Wisconsin. The bereaved family receives sympathy.
