After ten days of trial the jury returned a split verdict. E H Belyea was found not guilty of manslaughter but guilty of unlawfully producing abortion. A corrected verdict followed after Judge Morgan’s instructions. Attorneys set a new trial date for July 8 while names of jurors and local figures appeared in the record.
