Five Days Program at Chautauqua Opens with Old Settlers Reunion

The June 30 program at Chautauqua features a grand opening with an Old Settlers reunion and southern barbecue. Fort Totten Indian Band performs all day. daytime events include band concerts, private athletics classes, and a large afternoon concert with noted performers and speakers from Devils Lake and beyond. July 1 through July 4 offer daily prayers, services, sacred band concerts, lectures by notable figures, and a grand July 4 fireworks display.

Chautauqua Preparations Across North Dakota Grounds

Workmen rush to set seats and decorate for the opening of the 1900 Chautauqua season. Marsh Lynes runs the stable and ships a warship style launch Maria Teresa for bay excursions. A busy shore, new cottages, bath house, bands, restaurants, and added facilities promise a full summer program at the Chautauqua grounds.
