Republican County Convention Sparks Intense Power Battle
The Republican county convention at the courthouse drew a packed crowd as factions led by Pat Norton and Milt Crary challenged the old guard over control of the county organization and delegates to the state convention. After heated ballots and committee votes, J. A. Fairbanks and J. Merrick led the temporary officers, with McClory elected chairman amid calls for peace and unity.
