County commissioners selected Mr. D. Allen of Mine Heapons to prepare complete plans for the court house. The building fronts 61 feet on Kelley avenue and 74 feet on Sixth Street, rising to a tower with a lookout for viewing the surrounding country. The brick structure sits on a stone foundation with a ground-level basement housing jail facilities and offices for the register of deeds probate judge clerk of court treasurer and superintendent of schools.
