Chautauqua crowds vast at opening session

Large attendance marked the Chautauqua opening with the Chicago Operatic company delivering a premier program. Notable artists included Misa Allen, Mrs. Frederick Gearhart Downing, and Mr. Miller, with strong piano and organ pieces by Mr. Nelson. The grounds buzzed with activity as lighting, supervision, and guest skits drew praise, and a 3,500 audience joined in singing My Country, Tis of Thee during an evening program. The Fourth featured a Devils Lake versus Colored Gophers ball game, ending 6 to 2 in favor of the home team, drawing about 6,000 spectators.

State County Registers of Deeds meet this Friday and Saturday

First Indian Court Of Foresters Planned At Tokio ND
