A Case for Charity in Minnewaukan and Devils Lake
A wife, separated from her husband Fred Herr, traveled with three children seeking him. Locals in Minnewaukan provided food and care for the family, including a 10 year old, a 5 year old, and a 3 week old infant. A woman offered to adopt the baby, leading to distress as the mother feared losing her child. They reached Devils Lake cold and hungry and found shelter at Mr Crawford’s, then were placed at the Norsk House where officials ensured care. The mother, a Dane, remains anxious about her husband and asks for charitable support. A local note ends with an unrelated sales pitch for screen doors by B.S. Estes.
