The court affirms a lower court ruling blocking $6,500 in bonds for a Devils Lake bridge project. The decision pins the taxing power limits of the city, finding the bridge outside city boundaries and not a corporate public purpose, potentially requiring private funding if the project proceeds.
Secretary W H Brown urges counties to allot at least 100 to fund pamphlet data on irrigation feasibility in North Dakota. The U S supreme court denied Arthur Scofield sheriff of Ward county a habeas corpus bid. Judge Amidon had earlier sentenced Scofield to 90 days in Cass county jail after revelations he spoke with a juror amid Major Murphy perjury charges. Scofield began serving December 12 in Fargo.
Washington telegram reports Mrs Thos Marshall wife of a U S congressman was robbed of four rings valued about 1000 dollars from her jewelry box Tuesday night. Suspicion falls on Rufus H Brown a colored employee at the apartment house where the Marshalls live after Brown was arrested and arraigned in court. Entry reportedly made by a broken key latch.
