Christmas at Grand Harbor brings festive night
The Grand Harbor community enjoyed a warm Christmas evening at Mr. Hyde’s house with an oyster supper and confections. A Christmas tree and gifts followed, accompanied by vocal and instrumental music. The event ended with merriment as townsfolk danced the night away. E M Franklin proprietor of the Brooks House has been very low with erysipelas for a week and was reported better last evening. Mrs Brainerd has also been ill with the same disease but is improving.

Perished in the Storm on South Cheyenne Trek
On the 17th inst Frank Marcoe and Philip Loutuell of Devils Lake Wm Shearer Dick Robertson and Walter Chaunae of Carrington started from the head of the South Cheyenne toward Antelope Lake about 24 miles distant. They were caught in a storm and all were somewhat frozen Robertson left to go another direction during a dispute. All reached camp except Robertson who is missing believed frozen to death. Parties search but recovery before spring is unlikely.

Silver Wedding of Hon and Mrs H W Hill in St Charles

Dakota Display At New Orleans Exposition Steals the Show
A Chicago correspondent hails the Dakota exhibit at the Great Exposition as a triumph of taxidermic art. The display features a green park with mounted wildlife, a rustic Dakota home model, a liberty monument of wheat and grain, grain pyramids, a grain elevator model, and diverse Dakota products. The territorial legislature appropriated $10,000 for the exhibit, with $40,000 total support from the exposition.

Turtle Mountain coal pit near Canadian line grows with burning ore

He says surface coal is used by settlers and superior to rumors, with mineral deposits to be mined once the railroad opens the country.
