Senator Hansbrough Opens Irrigation Fight in Senate
Washington February 4 Senator Hansbrough of North Dakota will fire the opening gun in the irrigation fight this week delivering an elaborate address. He has a large data base on reclaimed land and the impact on agricultural interests. He denies that arid land reclamation will greatly affect grain prices and notes substantial land patents in nine years with little price change except in downturns. He asserts reclamation will be gradual and that less than 3,000,000 acres would be reclaimed by 1915 under the proposed bill, remaining steady thereafter. He remains hopeful Congress will act favorably. Mrs Gee H Rodenbach of Devils Lake guest of Mr and Mrs Redick.
