Missouri river washout halts traffic near Bismarck and Mandan
In April the Missouri river flood disrupted rail service for over 50 hours between Bismarck and Mandan. A washout destroyed 5,400 feet of track and grade, delaying trains until rapid repairs by 300 workers, gravel, ties, and rails enabled movement by Tuesday morning. Cleanup included removing tons of silt from the dump and clearing the line for service. Also noted are differing opinions on jury call laws in county courts and reports of Soo line extension surveys near Hankinson.
