New Features Announced for 1911 Chautauqua Souvenir

A new Chautauqua program promises an unusual souvenir with original text and illustrations, featuring Devile Lake and Ohwutangua grounds. Fort Totten Indian school display, proceeds for the school, and lectures by Fargo college president Gregan are planned. The International Harvester company will contribute, Rev Bhaw of Minot to lead, and a DeVils Lake Boy Scout camp will be organized on site. The annual event will be brighter with new paint, grounds work, and extensive preparations ongoing for the 1911 season.

Fifty Years Since Dakota Territory Creation

On April 3 1861 Lincoln signed the bill creating Dakota Territory marking a boundary split into two states. The fiftieth anniversary will be celebrated in Yankton South Dakota with North Dakota planned to join, as Governor Burke notes strong attendance is expected.

German Lutheran church plans $15,000 brick edifice at Seventh Street

The German Singlish Lutheran church of St Peter's, with Rev A Kollmorgen as pastor, was formed last week and plans a $15,000 brick building at Seventh Street and Aline Avenue. Construction to start within a month, basement first for social rooms, later expansion. Congregation near twenty families with hope of attracting others to Devils Lake area. Officers elected include Chairman F Brending and Secretary P Jago. Ladies Aid has raised funds via food sales. Services will include English Sunday evenings and English Sunday School alongside German services.
