Local election yields Brown as mayor in a calm canvass
Monday's pleasant weather framed a citywide vote in which Wm H Brown won every ward. The new mayor, a long time business man active in local development, will lead with an alert board of aldermen for a progressive administration. Funeral plans noted for Undertaker Nimmo, who died in Freshwater township after a move from the county farm to the farm. The deceased, aged about piycara, leaves a wife, three sisters and two brothers. Funeral at Freshwater residence then Presbyterian church this afternoon.

Freshwater township man found dead in barn by hanging
Word came Wednesday that Herman Willink committed death by own action by hanging. His body was found in the barn on his farm in Freshwater township, where he had attached a chain to a rafter and secured it.

Railroad Meeting Favors North Webster Line Despite Doubts
About 150 farmers gathered in the court house to discuss a railroad north to Webster. Joseph Kelley chaired, W G Samuel secretary. McCullogh outlined a $2,500 per mile construction with $30,000 pledged to build fifteen miles. Hill of the Great Northern promised free cars to Devils Lake. A trustees board was appointed to handle funds, with side tracks and local preference for workers. $20,000 of funds were placed on deposit in Devils Lake banks. remaining $10,000 to follow. Fatal Accident in Rail Yard Involving John Rochford
At about 3 p m Saturday John Rochford was struck by an engine in the railroad yards. He died within twenty five minutes from severe head and chest injuries and multiple fractures. The accident occurred as he stepped onto the tracks near the freight house on the fireman’s side. the engine bell rang and the fireman shouted warning. Responsibility was not placed on the railway employer.
