County Promises Redesign For Bayou Boat Ramp
Okaloosa County plans a full repair of the First Street boat ramp on Joe's Bayou using state boating funds expected in September. Commissioner Mike Mitchell says the project will replace maintenance with a single improved ramp and two docks, contracted to a dock builder. Residents note past delays and safety signs, as repairs reduced the ramp width and created a double incline, pushing some to launch at local marinas.

About 10 passengers per 19 seat Gulfstream 31 enjoyed a 20 minute scenic flight over Choctawhatchee Bay and the Gulf. Metro Express plans two daily Atlanta flights from Okaloosa County starting Monday while exploring permanent Destin service, though officials say county terminal limits hinder expansion.
