Girl Saves Child From Drowning in Joe's Bayou
Laura Archuleta 13, an eighth grader from Bruner Junior High, pulled three year old Jason Ryan from Joe's Bayou near Destin after he sank underwater. Her stepfather Bill Oswell lifted the unconscious boy onto a boat and performed rescue breaths until fire department and EMS personnel arrived. Ryan was listed in stable condition at Fort Walton Beach Memorial Hospital.
