Festa Italiana Festival Moves to Bigger Fort Walton Beach Site
The 8th Festa Italiana, held on the second Saturday in October, moves to a larger municipal parking area in Fort Walton Beach thanks to Downtown Merchants' Association and city support. James Angelo notes expanded activities and ethnic color with proceeds rechanneled into local scholarships and charities. The event, modeled on New York Italian street festivals, began in 1979 and features a noon to dark schedule with music and a 9 am Italian Festa 5K Run by the Northwest Florida Track Club.
