State Opens 98 Bids for Highway 98 Relocation
Bids for the Inland relocation of Highway 98 will be opened today at the Florida Department of Transportation in Tallahassee. Bids from firms to build a four lane link from Airport Road to the Walton County line are due by 10:30 a.m. Low bidder meeting specs will be awarded about 30 days after opening. The state estimates the project cost at 4.2 million dollars.

Local men plead guilty to string of holdups in Destin and Fort Walton
Three Shalimar residents William E. Herbinger Jr , William Jerome Flippo and Emmanuel A. Loggins pleaded guilty Monday to felonies tied to a June Destin robbery and three Fort Walton Beach store holdups. Herbinger faced no prison sentence, Flippo received concurrent terms, Loggins was charged as an accessory after the fact, and Wallace E. Herbert was arrested with them.

Florida Gas Prices Fall Across Self Service Pumps
Florida motorists saw a drop in gasoline prices over the last month per the AAA Clubs of Florida Fuel Gauge Report. Regular self serve averaged 1.132 dollars per gallon, down a half cent since September, unleaded 1.219 dollars, down 0.8 cents. full service held steady at 1.367 and unleaded at 1.431, down 0.1 cent.
