Stolen Mazda Recovered From Bell-Aire Lake
A 1979 Mazda stolen from Destin in August 1983 was pulled from Bell-Aire Lake after the lake was drained for repairs. The owner is Kenneth Carr of Daleville Alabama. Officers noted the car's ignition was on and it was in gear, with open windows and a pair of shoes inside. A CB radio and a FuzzBuster were found, unusual for a recovered vehicle. Identification was delayed by registration number confusion before confirmation.

Okaloosa County commissioners heard from County Engineer Dave Heinrich that pumping at Kell-Aire Lake will stop early Sunday and repairs will begin on the dam and leaky culverts. Traffic will be maintained with one section closed during reconstruction as a reroute is used. An earthen dam with riser-barrel outlets is proposed and custom outlets must be ordered.
