Coast Guard reports multiple overdue vessels near Destin and Santa Rosa Sound
A Coast Guard log details several近 search and rescue events from the Destin area. A 20 foot craft owned by Jerry Stowers of Shalimar was overdue but moored safely after a 5:25 p.m. report. Destin sea buoy disorientation incidents affected Miss Destin, a 36 foot vessel owned by Jim Matz and crewed by Tim Matz of Shalimar, and Robert L. Honacker reported his 24 foot craft near the buoy and escorted to Rodeo Docks. Additional reports include a 25 foot craft Rose Ann disoriented near Destin sea buoy, a 16 foot Hobie adrift near Waterway Condominiums, another 16 foot Hobie capsized in Garner Bayou later relighted, and Grand Illusion, an 87 foot craft disabled by steering loss west of Buckaroo Point and towed to station.
