Court ruling eases tax load for non residents in Destin
Florida Supreme Court on Feb 7 ruled the ad valorem tax on personal property of non resident owners unconstitutional. About 2 500 to 3 000 Destin property owners with out of state residency will not be billed for household goods next year while still paying 1984 bills. The decision will cut the county tax roll by about 2 5 million with Destin bearing roughly two thirds of the loss. Rentals remain taxed as commercial ventures. non rental out of state homeowners avoid the personal property levy.
