Reunion Revives Memorial Day Outing at South Georgia Farm

A corporate family picnic held Saturday May 25, about 54 miles south of Atlanta, drew an estimated 800 guests. Nan, Nicole and I arrived around 2 p.m. amid carnival booths, country music, cloggers, and a noon feast of hot dogs and burgers. Free ice cream and a playful atmosphere colored the day as families enjoyed a mini circus finale.

Nine hour corporate family picnic recalls Memorial Day outing

A lakeside country gathering offered pony rides for under 100 pounds, games, boat and raft activities, a large barbecue pit feast with chicken, ribs, and desserts, and a full day of entertainment. Attendees sang the Star Spangled Banner before supper and ended with a mini circus. An on-site emergency medical unit stood by as planners delivered a nostalgic, joyous day.

Viewpoint on buying a house and embracing permanence

The narrator compares home ownership to marriage and a lifelong mortgage, expressing ambivalence about settling in one place. They fantasize about independence yet fear debt, neighborhood changes, and future ren ern. The piece mingles humor with anxiety about permanence, selling, and the washing machine as a symbol of domestic security.
