County Pays To Remove Clay At Shoreline Village Site

Okaloosa County Commission agreed at a special meeting to haul away 1000 to 1400 cubic yards of red clay from the Shoreline Village site at Highway 98 and Gulf Shore Drive and absorb costs. Removal estimated at 1500 dollars, with up to 11000 dollars for sand itself dumped at Destin Airport. The action followed complaints from Folmar and Associates that delays were harming the project. The red-tag was lifted after the final truck left, and work to replace sand with the correct color began, keeping beaches unaffected per officials.
