Harbor growth panel agenda for Destin and center election
The governor's growth management panel meets January 16 in Sandestin to hear subcommittee recommendations for the Northwest Florida Coast Resource Planning plan to be sent to Gov. Graham in March. The Destin Community Center annual meeting and board election follow January 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Center on Stahiman Avenue.

Cason Gets 15 Years for DUI Manslaughter
William D. Casson of Santa Rosa Beach was sentenced to 15 years in prison with no parole for DUI manslaughter after a March crash on Highway 98 in Destin that killed one woman and injured four others. Circuit Judge Erwin Fleet cited Casson s 43 prior traffic offenses and a blood alcohol level well above .10.

Voting Machines Are Plentiful For City Election
Destin voters will use up to 12 voting machines at the Destin Community Center for the upcoming city election. Joy Dunlap asks 10 to 12 machines with check in near the main hall. Florida law requires machines be visible to election officials at all times. Okaloosa County Supervisor of Elections Elsie Garrett confirms 12 machines are prepared and notes power backup and legality will guide setup.
