Women Seek Balance Between Career And Family
UF education professor Dr. Ellen Amatea surveyed 600 upper division students and found both sexes want successful careers, but women are less willing to sacrifice time and energy for advancement. Men show less willingness to take on home management and child rearing. Both genders value marriage and family, yet role expectations shape their plans. Amatea emphasizes clarifying personal standards, gathering real-world role insights, and joint couple planning, with counselors aiding students through workshops funded by the Florida Department of Education.
