Redevelopment contract for Fort Walton Beach still in limbo
The Downtown Fort Walton Beach redevelopment deal with The Development Group Inc remains unsigned as city officials review a draft. The project price stands at 3.5 million with 85,000 to 150,000 square feet of retail and office space, a 250 room hotel, and a marina with 110 slips to be built within three years of signing. Redevelopment Agency chairman Bill Roberts says revisions will continue and the draft will go back to DGI for more changes.

Walton music teacher arrested on nine counts
Walton County deputy reports music teacher Carl Gassett of DeFuniak Springs aged 37 has been indicted on nine counts of lewd and indecent assault involving three students at Walton County Middle School where he served as music instructor and choral director. He spent a night in jail and was released on a $10,000 bond.
