Council OKs Attorney's $750 Monthly Retainer

Destin City Council approved paying City Attorney Jerry Miller a 750 dollar monthly retainer plus 75 dollars an hour for other work, plus mileage 20 cents per mile, copy charges 20 cents per page and a 3 dollar long distance fee. The fee covers an estimated 16 hours monthly for meetings and 15 hours for other work. The action passed 7 to 0 with possible renegotiation if meetings fall below four per month.

Fire destroys roof in Gulf Terrace condo blaze on Okaloosa Island

Volunteers from Okaloosa Island and Ocean City Wright firefighters tackled a morning fire at Gulf Terrace condominiums. No injuries reported. The blaze began around 6:24 a.m. and was controlled in under an hour, with bedrooms of four second‑floor units burned and bottom units water damaged.
