Public Hearing Set On Henderson Beach Development Plan
A 7:30 p.m. public meeting and workshop will discuss the nearly $2 million Henderson Beach State Recreation Area project in Destin on Thursday Feb. 21 at the Destin Community Center. The plan envisions 3200 daily visitors, rustic buildings, an entrance station, bathhouses, picnic shelters, board walks, a park drive, island entrance, and two 180-vehicle parking areas with safe access to Highway 98. Gov. Bob Graham proposes 1,985,000 for 1985-86 and 180,000 for 1986-87. DNR aims to complete design and permitting in about three years with 18 months of construction. Attendees may speak or submit statements by March 1 to DNR Recreation and Parks in Tallahassee.
